Reflections on Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow
One of the pleasures of growing older is discovering unexpected connections between different parts of life.
My wife and I met at university during the 1960s, so our home is often filled with the music of that era. One day, listening to Fleetwood Mac’s Don’t Stop, I found myself smiling at the lyric: “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.”
Of course, the Buddha might have offered rather different advice!
The song celebrates optimism for the future, while Buddhist practice gently invites us to return to the present moment. Neither is entirely wrong. One lifts the heart; the other steadies the mind. Sometimes a smile is enough to appreciate
